Friday, April 11, 2008Season 4: Six of OnePRE-EPISODE THOUGHTS What does "Six of One" mean? I'm guessing that "Six" is the hot blonde Cylon in Gaius' brain, and "One" is the One True God religion that she's pushing. I still think that the fleet is making a big mistake by not going where Starbuck says to go. But then, I did support Gaius Baltar for President, and that didn't turn out very well, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me. LIVE-BLOGGING THE EPISODE 10:07 I was kind of hoping that Starbuck would shoot Roslin. Or at least torture her, the way Jack Bauer (from 24) would have done. But instead, Starbuck gives Roslin her gun and asks Roslin to shoot her. I wonder if Roslin is the final Cylon? 10:20 The four Cylons gather together to discuss their plan of action. They think that Baltar might be able to rat them out, and they also think he might know who the fifth Cylon is, so they want to get to him first. Tigh asks Tori to use her sex appeal to lure him away from his harem. Admiral Adama visits Starbuck in the brig, and he gets really pissed at her when she tells him that he's Roslin's "wet nurse." After Adama does some physical violence to Starbuck, she screams again "we're going the wrong way!" I believe her. 10:30 There's a going away party for Lee Adama (he's leaving his military job for a civilian one). He has to get drunk as part of the celebration. There's some Cylon politics (the real Cylons, not the final five). Caval wants to reprogram the Raiders so that next time they attack the human fleet, they won't withdraw when they sense one of the final five. There was some dissent, most notably by a Number Six, but I think that Caval's position won. It's tough to figure out what's going on there. On Galactica, Gaius tells Tori some stuff about music, which scares her, and she leaves him. Instead of a Number Six talking to Gaius, there's now another Gaius. I think the other Gaius represents the bad part of his conscience. 10:47 Admiral Adama and Roslin have some kind of lover's quarrel. I also learned that what happened back when Roslin shot at Starbuck was that Roslin was aiming at Starbuck, but for some reason (maybe divine intervention) she missed. Lee "Apollo" Adama gets a rousing send-off from Galactica. There's a coup aboard the Cylon fleet. Six comes into the council room with some tincan muscle. 10:57 Gaius and Tori have sex. Tori cries. Gaius tells her about the One True God. Massacre aboard the Cylon ship! Six has removed the circuit from the centurions that prevents them from "reasoning." Admiral Adama gives Starbuck a ship so she can go find Earth. I'm not exactly sure how she's supposed to find the fleet again after she does find Earth. POST-EPISODE CONCLUSION This season is still way better than the last season.
Comments:
There were some good bits, but on the whole: "Six of One" demonstrated some of the poorest, most desparate, writing I've seen for BSG. The writers clearly wanted to set this episode apart by moving characters off past paths. But from Apollo's farewell (and divorce) to Adama's apparent mariage to Rosline, it just didn't make a lot of sense. I hope the next episode is much more coherent.
You hit that one right Anonymous. The episode was incoherent. Apollo's resignation makes no sense. You have to figure they lost a few pilots in the last fight. I don't think anyone is going to cheer Apollo on just because he was to feel self-actualized. Of course selfish behavior by virtually any character on the show isn't a surprise.
The Cylon parts didn't make a lick of sense. You have to dumb down the Raiders so they'll fire on other models. However with Centurions, you have to allow higher functions to allow them to fire on other models. Oh well, there's no point in trying to make sense of the show any longer. Moore and company are just flying by the seat of their pants doing whatever they want. I'm just going to sit back and watch the train wreck.
This season is still way better than the last season.
I agree with you there. This episode had some flaws, but compared to last season, at least things are going somewhere. Some of the character arcs seems a little hurried and compressed, and their motivations rather condensed and unexplained. However, I guess that with only one season left, they've decided to get things moving along. A very good episode. Not a great one, but a very good one.
I would disagree with post above. One it makes perfect sense for Apollo to move into the government scene because remember in the first season Tom Zarik told the story of Apollo the sun god and said that he had two parts the military leader and the governmental leader and that at some point he had to choose which one he was going to embrace. Well we'll all know he choose government along time ago and this is just the next. Personally I think he'll become the next president after Roslin dies.
Two I think that the point of the cylons were totally misunderstood because the whole reasons the cylons fought the humans in the first war was to ensure that they had free will. They wanted to be free to do as the willed and now the skin models are basically re-enslaving the lesser models. They want to destroy their free will and I think that was the whole debate. Also I see a huge backlash to this when all the models find out that they have under the skin models control for so long. This just shows the devision within the cylons. Overall this episode had so much foreshadowing that it was funny. I think that we'll look back at this episode and say oh yea now it makes sense. Not as good as last week still a good episode 8 out of 10 Funny, as I don't disagree with your post. I said "some" of the character arc, not all. As time goes on, I'm sure nearly all of the character arcs will make more sense, but right now I'm getting the feeling that the creators are moving the game pieces around in order to get them in place for the big, final push - and to do that, some of the character arcs (but not all) are being compressed.
And of course, it just occurred to me that "the post above" referred to the blog's post and not my comment.
Apologies if I misunderstood. I think both points of view (the initial post and the 4/12 10:55 comment) have some validity.
Seems to me the Cylons are more and more human as time goes by...Discord among the clones runs rampant as they try to decide whether or not to continue attacking the Battlestar fleet, as the Raiders seem pretty convinced “THE FINAL FIVE” are on the ship with the humans. Here’s what I don’t get: Who cares? If they’re Cylons, they’ll just come back anyway, right? I’m sure a better explanation will follow. Read more at
Fist off let me apologize to Ivan Wolfe I was the one who said "post above" I was directing at the post above his. Secondly a comment on the post by dominique, I think the reason the raiders don't want to kill the remaining five is because I believe that these models are different perhaps their so different that their unique. I think that when they were programmed they were supposed to be one of a kind, customized if you will, so if their killed then they really die. Thats why I think we haven't seen any copies of them and why the raiders don't want to harm and why the other cylons are so intrigued by them and fear them at the same time. Moore said himself after the revealing of the 4 that they were fundamentally different.
ok so I figured out the whole season already based off of the Last Supper picture and the clues given my Moore.
From Left to Right Here it goes: Roslin burns something important which cases her to loose the way to Earth so she needs Starbucks help. when she dies it will be in martyrdom to save the human fleet. Natalie the new number six takes control of the cylons and leads them into new future with the humans. Which she takes the position of James who was the most important leader in starting the Catholic Church. Tigh is turning his one good eye way from the group meaning hes giving up all that he cares for, just as Andrew gave up every thing to be with Jesus. He will become a martyr for the cylons. The cup represents the final cylon (hint: No one in the picture is the final cylon) and will play the role of judas and betray the humans in their darkest hour. Lee will play the role of Peter who will deny the flight of something fleet just as Peter denied jesus. Then well re accept the fleet after there transformation just as Peter re accept Jesus after he came back to life. Lee just like Peter will become an important figure head after they find earth. Gauis is playing the role of John who not only learned the most from Jesus, but all say the Revelation. This means that when the the fleet reaches Earth only those deemed worth will be allowed to see the other will perish. John was all so know from being able to convert people to Christianity just as we've seen with Baltar. In the middle is Six, but not the cylon. It's the image that God portrays himself in to Baltar, just as Jesus was in the middle and calm right before in storm so is Six. Next is Starbuck who is playing Thomas. The most important detail pertaining to both Starbuck and Thomas is that when jesus tells the apsotle they know where hes going Thomas replies that don't know at all. With Starbuck we've already seen that she thinks she knows the way to Earth, but might be mistaken just as Thomas it will take divine intervention to assure her either way. Then Andres is in the seat of James the Greater said to be a comforter and one the pilgrimage saints. This is important for Andres because he will company Starbuck in her quest for Earth supporting her and defending her. He will die just as James did for his beliefs. Next Tyrol is holding a knife possibly thinking or planning to kill the cylon-human children. He is in the seat of Philip who was fifth of Jesus Apostles. This fits him because he was one of the final five and because Athena and Helo look over at him with anger and distress. Athena seats in the seat of Matthew who wrote the Gospel of Matthew and is "the gift of the Lord," this fits Athena because she gave birth to the first cylon-human baby which some view as the first gift of the Lord. She looks over at Tyrol in distress perhaps because he's trying to kill her child. Helo is in the seat of Jude who is the saint of lost causes or desperate cases. As we've seen Helo has always been in the minority and will continue. Jude was said to create great miracles of hopelessness which we've already seen Helo do. Helo looks over at Tyrol in bravery and anger perhaps in order to save his child. Last but not least is Adama Sr. is in the seat of simon who was said the be not only Zealous, but a listen and strong adviser. We've already seen Adama in these roles, but I think as move closer to Earth he will move more into an Adviser role. Anyways thank for reading this long post I could be all wet on this one, but there are just many similarities. Posted below is a link to the clues and wiki's last supper where you can read about all the apostles and Da Vinci's Last Supper. http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/The_Last_Supper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Supper_(Leonardo)
"They think that Baltar might be able to rat them out, and they also think he might know who the fifth Cylon is, so they want to get to him first. Tigh asks Tori to use her sex appeal to lure him away from his harem."
That scene with Baltar and Tory became the whole focus for my review.
If remember the Hybrid said this: "The excited state decays by vibrational relaxation
Post a Comment
Into the first excited symptom state Yes, yes and merrily we go Reduce atmospheric nitrogen by 0.03% It is not much consolation that society will pick up the bits Leaving us at 8 modern is punishment interdiction is paramount Please, cut the fuse They will not harm their own, end of line Limiting diffusions to two dimensions increases the number of evolutionary jumps within the species Rise and measure the temple of the five Transformation is the goal They will not harm their own....." To me this tells that the raiders and centurions are not only evolving, but a the imminent civil war within the cylon fleet will leave us with only 8 models left. So 3 of the models must get boxed. Also the hybrid says that they wont harm their own. I think this refers to when Andres and the raider wouldn't kill each other. Also i think through these final five hold the key to the cylons evolution see as how I've already stated that they are probably more autonomous than the other models and may be one of kind making them the next step in cylon evolution.
