Sunday, July 31, 2005FraggedWhat does “fragged” mean anyway? It’s most unfortunate that I had to miss last week’s episode on account of having no cable TV, but now my cable and my Tivo are working again. I didn’t seem to miss much last week, because Commander Adama is still unconscious in sickbay, the landing party is still on Kobol, and Laura Roslin is still in the brig. But Starbuck and Helo are nowhere to be seen. Neither is Sharon. As previously predicted, Lee “Apollo” Adama comes out of this smelling like a rose. He’s out of the brig and back doing his job. And talking about Apollo, the real Apollo, Richard Hatch, makes another appearance in this episode. His presence warns us that there’s going to be a lot more political stuff going on in the next few episodes. The quorum of twelve was also a pain in the ass in the classic original Battlestar Galactica. Number Six doesn’t seem to look as good as she did last season. I think it’s because Tricia Helfer lost some weight, losing some of her lovely feminine curves in the process. Someone needs to buy her a few Big Macs. Commander Adama will probably be in sickbay a few more episodes because the writers seem to enjoy putting Colonel Tigh in the spotlight. Tigh had to declare martial law at the end of the episode, which was the right thing to do given that Laura Roslin is a nutcase and the rest of the quorum are making pains of themselves. But unfortunately, it’s easy to predict that Roslin will turn out to be right, and that Starbuck will bring that Arrow back and it will help them find the way to Earth. I say unfortunately because I can’t stand Roslin's character.
Comments:
Dude I am so with you. Roslin is soooooo frakkin annoying. And the worst thing about that? You just know Moore et al are setting that nutjob up to be the savior of man. And the way Lee Adama wants to fall into her busom and suck at her teat is sort of disgusting and creepy.
Actually given that she only has a few months left to live.....
I predict Luara Roslin will force a political division and split the fleet. She and her supporters will return to Kobol and attempt to fulfill the scriptures. And the cylons will kill her. The rest will either make a desperate escape or be rescued by the Gallactica. Beware false prophets
Personally, I think this season is off to a rough start. After the recent episode, I doubt if any ship is going to hold off supplies because Roslin is in the brig and martial law has been declared. Let's face it, after being virtually wiped out, constantly being chased by the cylons, and having cylon spies among you, no one is going to be much in the mood for politics. And only an idiot is going to tick off the people that are your last line of defense. Roslin would have either shut up or taken a short walk out the airlock in the real world.
Is anyone else annoyed that they have made Tigh out to be almost a complete loser?
Tigh is a loser. If it was not for riding Adama's coat-tail he would not have made it past Ensign. His "leadership" methods are centered around guessing what Adama (or other boss) would do. It would have only been a matter of weeks or months to a mutiny if Adama had died.
Uhhhh yeah. Tigh is a loser... which was pretty deliberate. He is just a very weak man, who is savvy in commanding the ship it's self, but as far as commanding the fleet? Not quite up to the task. I still enjoy him, because he's demonstrated the ability to make really tough decisions (venting off a section of the BSG for example)… as long as it involves the inner workings of the BSG. The problem is that he has no understanding of how people respond, and with the entire Coup… well… has pretty much responded in the WORSE POSSIBLE WAY IMAGINABLE. Because when you declare martial law… well unless you plan to followup with an iron fist, you are going to have huge issues on your hands.
