Monday, December 20, 2004Pre-Christmas new Battlestar Galactica series updateThe SciFi Channel has now announced that the new Battlestar Galactica series will be airing Fridays at 9:00 PM. The guys at the SciFi Channel must think that people who watch Battlestar Galactica must have no life, putting the show on Friday nights. Oh well, good thing I have a Tivo. And good thing that the new Battlestar Galactica won't be on at the same time as The Apprentice, my other favorite TV show. * * * It looks like Richard Hatch has sold out and joined up with the new show, where he plays a "Nelson Mandela-style political prisoner." You can read his exclusive behind the scenes writeup at the SciFi Channel's website. The difference between the old Galactica and the new Galactica is that in the old Galatactica series, a good guy like this "Nelson Mandela-style" person wouldn't have been a prisoner. The humans from the old Galactica were the good guys, and they didn't imprison other good guys. They only imprisoned the Nomen, Baltar, the crew of Eastern Alliance cruiser, and of course the guys who appeared in the "Gun On Ice Planet Zero" episode. (That prison barge sure saw a lot of action!) * * * The gods of the interent have finally decided to bestow their blessings on my blog. The number of people finding my site has doubled this week, thanks to greater visibility at Yahoo! Welcome newcomers!

So? How it was? I've been a big fan of the first serie, though in Italy it has been released discontinuously over the years.
I'm not sure they'll never show this new version here, so I'd like to read comments of other fans!
I must admit to having never seen the original series, but am rapidly becomign a huge fan of the new series. Regardless, I don't understand your comment about the difference between the old crew and new crew--namely that the old crew wouldnt have imprisoned a "good guy", here Richard Hatch's cameo character. I'm not sure how you can label him as a "good guy" with only the limited information provided about his character in this episode. We find out that he is a of a highly idealistic mindset, but that his practical philosophy is on of violent uprising, not peaceful diplomacy. Not necessarily a "good guy" in my view.
